Jesus Christ the Head of Everything

For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.
He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.
For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him.

Colossians 1:16-19 NIV

Recently, I have been going through a difficult time and with the Global pandemic consuming our day-to-day, we can easily lose focus of the Cross and stop seeing things through the lenses of the Spiritual eyes.

Before the National lockdown was announced I took a very BOLD move and resigned from my comfortable job, because I had made big plans for my life which I was really excited and hopeful for, and then, BANG Covid-19 changed all that. Within a blink of an eye, my whole life stood still and the plans I had made weren’t so promising any more.

As the weeks passed, my hope was replaced with self- doubt and at first, I tried to ignore it but before long I was flirting with doubt which gave birth to fear. You see the enemy has a way of making us doubt the promises that God has made upon our lives and we soon find ourselves married to fear. Fear is the opposite of hope and has the power to paralyze us.

Apostle Paul encouraged his protege, Timothy, to cling to faith by reminding him, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline” (2 Timothy 1:7).

We soon start to measure our accomplishments, success with everyone around us. We doubt that God is able to deliver us from this global pandemic that has everyone on their knees.

What we fail to remember is that through Christ all things were created, meaning that nothing that happens in our lives ever catches Him by surprise. Christ already knew that we would go through all the challenges we currently face and has already equipped us, His children, with the tools, weapons and knowledge to fight this pandemic and come out strong and victorious.

He gave us weapons that not even the enemy can disarm from us, these weapons include:

Word of God

The Word of God is the strongest weapon that we should be relying on during these uncertain times. The Word of God tells us that we can do “all things” through Christ who gives us His strength (Philippians 4:13). His strength empowers us to overcome all the situations and circumstances that we may face upon this earth all in the Name of Jesus!

Prayer

Psalms 91 is God’s way of telling us that whoever runs to him and seeks his divine protection will be saved from calamity and destruction. When we pray the words of this Psalm it becomes a powerful shield of protection from fear. It is literally the 10111 to our mighty God.

Praise and Worship

Praise invites God into our situation. The Bible tells us that God abides in the praises of His people. When we magnify God, we invite His presence into our lives. It paves the way for God’s power to be displayed, miracles happen.

Jesus Christ overcame the Cross, this too shall be conquered, in His name.
