11 Sep Taking Things to God
The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still. – Exodus 14:14
I am sure you can recall a situation where you were scared, overwhelmed or angry. Maybe you are in one of those spaces right now. It’s a natural reaction to protect yourself and your loved ones but often we do not need to be afraid. Nor do we need to seek vengeance. In Romans 12:19 Paul reminds us: “Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.”
If, as you are reading this, you are filled with terror or rage, read these scriptures again. I can promise you that God will come through for you. Maybe it won’t be when you would like Him to, but His timing is always perfect.
I often wonder, what if Joseph had left and sought revenge on his brothers from the moment that he was freed. He would have delayed the plans God had for his life. He didn’t do that, of course, and even if you find yourself making the mistake of taking things into your own hands, God will forgive and redeem you. There is no sin big enough to stop what God has planned for your life. When I think of times I have been impatient in my own life, I am reminded of Abraham and Sarah. They grew tired of waiting and they did get what they wanted through the works of their own hands and the ripple effects of their choices were mus have felt like 4ft crashing waves, but God still fulfilled His promise to them.
We serve such an awesome, amazing and loving God. We cannot fully comprehend His Grace.
Prayer
Dear Lord,
Thank you for loving us so much. Thank you for all the blessings you have given us. Lord, please help us to learn when to be still and trust You and not take matters into our own hands. Thank you for Your forgiveness and grace.
